Retirement opens up a lot of different possibilities for retirees.

Now that we are no longer tied to a daily routine of getting up and going to work, what is the next step.

It can be anything that you want it to be. However, I suggest that a retiree should take some time to get acclimated to a new way of living the first day of the rest of your new life.

Keep in mind that you have worked so many years to achieve this level of living that few people get an opportunity to enjoy.

Your days should now be filled with joy and excitement. Your days of stress should be behind you.

Start thinking about things that you like to do, but never seemed to have the time to do. Add in things that you always wanted to do, but never have done.

Start building a bucket list of what you want the rest of your life to look like. Keep in mind that you can always add and subtract from your list.

You are the boss!

Just think about all the people who are still working and who would love to be in your position.

Think about taking better care of yourself first. As you go into your retirement years, your health (your body) is one of the most important assets that you possess.

Exercising and eating healthy should be at the top of your list. Don't forget to make routine doctor appointments a priority as well. Also, first consult with your doctor before you engage in any physical activities to make sure you have no limitations. By the way, if you have not had a physical recently, this would be a great time to get one.

Retirees should also focus their attention on interaction. Socializing with other retirees should also be a priority. Start giving back, by volunteering for an organization.

Meeting people this way is great way to maintaining socialization.

Keep in mind as you find the transition from working to retirement difficult, I suggest that you search and reach out to support groups in the area you live in for assistance in making our new life - retirement, everything God wanted it to be for you.
